October 2020 Consumer Newsletter for Seniors
As an SRES® REALTOR®, I have access to monthly National Association of REALTORS® newsletters aimed at the senior citizen community (50+). The October 2020 consumer newsletter focuses on the best places to retire – again – and on important Medicare dates. In terms of the best places to retire, I’m not sure whether to be happy (because less people will be moving here) or sad (because we are great, damnit!) that my town isn’t on the list. I guess the fact that Kat thinks a place is great doesn’t get factored in official “best of” lists!
Other interesting tidbits for the month:
Co-living may be gaining ground as an option for seniors. Rather than moving into a typical adult facility, based on various criteria older people can be matched up with others to share a home. They could also move into a senior-ready home with friends, or perhaps live in a community of seniors who all reside in attached apartments. Not only would this help those seniors who refuse to live in a “typical” old-age home, but can help stave off loneliness which can be one of the tragedies of getting old. Check out this Senior Housing News article for more information.
Robotic pets have been developed specifically for seniors with dementia or Alzheimers. While they may sound just like a child’s stuffed animal, they are actually interactive and have a heart beat. They even respond to human touch and interaction. They are supposed to look, sound and feel like real puppies. Check this article out and then let me know what you think!
If you would like to get on my mailing list for the SRES® newsletter, let me know and I’ll provide a copy monthly via email. To read this month’s full report, click on the link below.
