The HouseKat Presents: Flathead Chimney & Dryer Vent Cleaning Services
In this edition of The HouseKat Presents, I had the pleasure to speak with Jon Crandall, owner of Flathead Chimney & Dryer Vent Cleaning Services. Check out the video, and then see below for additional information.
I met Jon Crandall earlier this year when we were looking for someone to clean out the wood stove chimney at our home. We’d only used it one season, but thought it might need a good cleaning since much of the wood we use is from our forest. Which means it’s mostly conifer (pine). We figured there was a good chance we had a lot of creosote buildup in our chimney.
So we scheduled an appointment with Jon for a few days later. Jon was on time and efficient, as well as pleasant and kind. All good attributes! We talked briefly after he was done with the job. I was under the assumption that every chimney needed to be cleaned every year. Well, it turns out that’s not the case. If you are building fires non-stop and creating a lot of creosote, you may need to get the chimney cleaned more than once a year. But if your use is a lot less than that, you may only need to get it cleaned every two years, or perhaps even less frequently.
So why did this conversation make Jon someone I would recommend? Because he could have told me that my chimney needed to be cleaned more often. I was ready to write him a check for an annual cleanup, or even more frequently if that’s what he said I needed. But he paid attention to our specific fire building patterns, and our specific needs. Oh, and he also shared another story with me about another client who he now services, for free, multiple times a year. So bottom line? I give huge kudos to any business owner who provides excellent, honest and caring service to his or her clients.
So what services does Jon’s company provide?
Flathead Chimney & Dryer Vent Cleaning Services covers the entire Flathead Valley. The company provides chimney sweeping services, removing soot, blockages and buildup of creosote from your chimney. In addition, they inspect chimneys from top to bottom, looking for any potential issues. And finally, they install chimney caps when needed.
In terms of dryers, Flathead Chimney & Dryer Vent also cleans dryer vents from dust and debris. The dust can clog vents, cause fires, and reduce efficiency of the appliance. As with chimney cleaning, this does not need to be done annually, but having an inspection would be a great place to start.
The company gives a discount to veterans and military, as well as to senior citizens. Their website can be found at http://flatheadchimney.com and Jon can be reached at 406-249-5732.
Call Jon for your chimney and dryer vent needs!
