New HouseKat website – Completed!
One of my major goals in 2016 was to implement a new web site for my business. I already had one that I developed myself using the WordPress.org free platform. It was sufficient for my blogging efforts, but not for my real estate business. While I had received over 200K views on my broken ankle posts, I had very little real estate activity (which was my original website intention) so I was in desperate need of a redo.
As can be seen on the left, the site I developed myself was, to be honest, well intentioned but kind of half a$$ed. I had a link to my IDX feed which is where buyers or sellers would go to look at current housing inventory. But I didn’t know exactly what to do with that link. After quite a bit of effort, I was able to make some buttons (on the left under the picture) which would allow people to search for listings. When they clicked on the button, though, they went to a confusing looking page that did not make searching easy.
I had no idea how to get buyers or sellers to sign up for automatic listing alerts. Also, I didn’t know how to organize everything so they could find what they were looking for. And what about linking to my own listings? That functionality did not exist on my site. I knew I needed a better product for the HouseKat’s real estate needs!
Because I had no idea how to make the improvements myself, I reached out to someone who does know. I contacted Tammy and Tim Emineth of Personal SEO. They are focused on helping others increase their online presence, which is exactly what I wanted to do.
After listening to my needs, they came up with the new design and site. Buyers and sellers can now easily search for new listings and contact me. They can see my featured listings. Finding out information about all the areas I service is simple. If you want to see the site, you can click on the image on the right to check it out.
I am still working on making improvements to my posts, specifically to make them more SEO friendly (so search engines can find them). In addition, I want to provide more information specifically focused on what buyers or sellers would need to know. And I need to provide links to this website in all my real estate materials. But while work is still needed in improving my content, I can safely check off one of my 2016 goals – implementing a new HouseKat website.
