Last night, the house was quiet when all of a sudden a loud crash sounded from the kitchen.
“What the heck was that?” I thought.
I zipped into the kitchen and didn’t see anything amiss. So I did what anyone would do – started looking in the cabinets. And I found the culprit of the noise. A shelf containing a large pile of plates and bowls had collapsed.
Apparently, after 20 or so years of satisfactorily holding the shelf in place, the plastic holders were breaking. One snapped off, and one lost the small piece that attached to the wall.
The “shelf” life of these holders had ended, and it’s now time to purchase new ones.
The moral of the story is, from time to time, check the inside of your kitchen cabinets! The fasteners holding up your shelves might not be quite as long-lasting as you think!
