This is part seven of excerpts from the trail log which was located on a New York portion of the Appalachian trail. For the post which explains this series, click here.
Following is my selection of this week’s thoughts of a hiker.

The Man W/No Name: Done 17, goin’ for 40 miles w/out stopping feeling loopy. if I DIE TRYING know: my mind had the discipline to force my body past the limit and that is what greatness is made of.

I’m going to keep my comments very short on this one, since almost everything that needs to be said is in that one blog entry. I do believe that self-discipline can help us do amazing things. Discipline, coupled with vision, motivation and determination are unstoppable.
Did “The Man W/No Name” make it 40 straight miles without stopping? I have no idea. That’s a very long way and sounds impossible to me. But would it have been impossible for someone with discipline, vision, motivation and determination? I think not.
