I originally started blogging as a way to get my real estate business going. I wanted to ensure I provided as much information as possible about my geographic area of expertise and about the real estate industry in general. But as I started posting, I also branched out into non-real estate blogs, writing about life, family, and learning experiences.
I have two different websites, one is my Kat’s Homes Site, and one is a real-estate specific site on ActiveRain. With very few exceptions the material is exactly the same. But by reviewing some of the statistics that are available on each site, I’ve learned some interesting things.
First, the Internet really does allow connections to people everywhere and anywhere. On a recent day, one or more of my web pages were visited by people as far away as Romania, Malaysia, Pakistan and the Philippines.
How amazing is that?
What I also found is that while the material in both my blogs is exactly the same, the type of material viewed in each is drastically different.
On my word press site, the material that is viewed are mostly the non- real estate blogs. In fact, the most visited pages have to do with broken ankles. As it so happened, one of the most frustrating times in my life over the last two years was the three to four months I spent dealing with my broken ankle. I decided to share my lessons with anyone who might be interested. A lot of people have been interested, and it gives me great pleasure to know that sharing some of the things that impact me, help a few other people somewhere out in the world. That is just so cool.
On my activerain site, however, the most popular blogs are those dealing with real estate. In fact, 14% of all the clicks by readers to this blog were for one post – regarding whether or not buyers need real estate agents to represent them (they do). The top 6 posts are all about the real estate business or local market and the broken ankle posts are a very small percentage of total views.
So I do have some work cut out for me regarding how to get more business views on my word press site. I also need to keep writing. Sometimes I just get so busy with life that I don’t have time to document my business and/or personal thoughts.
And sometimes I just think why bother? Does anyone even read this stuff?
Well, thanks to you, they do!
As of a few days ago, my Active Rain posts had garnered a grand total of 37,906 actual click-throughs, and my word-press blog generated 12,374 reads for a grand total of 50,280 blogs that have actually been read.
I find that absolutely amazing and I am grateful.
Till next time!
Good day! I know this is somewhat off topic but I was wondering which blog platform
are you using for this website? I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had
issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
Jung- Actually, I use wordpress for this one, and a real-estate industry one (ActiveRain) for the other. I know that’s not a big help!
